Charging the HTC Touch

How to provide your HTC Touch with enough Energy

One of the coolest parts of the HTC Elf is its ability to be recharged using a standard mini USB cable. This is a really useful feature because nowadays almost everybody has a computer at home and also such a mini USB cable at hand. This dramatically reduces the necessity to carry HTC's standalone charger around with you. Just plug the mini USB cable into the HTC Touch's lower end and there you go. A full recharge takes about 3 hours but even connecting the HTC Touch very briefly to a computer allows you to continue working some more time.

I've tried this with a couple of cables, from external harddrives to digital camera cables and everything worked fine. You may only watch carefully not to sync your HTC Touch with another computer provided that there's Microsoft's ActiveSync installed on that system. But even if you abort all pairing efforts, the P3450 will charge anyway.

However I've discovered one exception so far: Motorola seems to provide a special, proprietary mini USB cable that looks like the standard ones but doesn't behave like such. Using that cable (mine is from the RAZR series) simply won't charge the HTC Touch at all. So be aware of that. And enjoy charging.

Still running out of Energy

If you're still running low on battery, you should definitely check out the Solio Universal Hybrid Solar Charger which allows you to charge your devices just by the sunlight alone. Besides the fact that it's working, it safes the environment as well. So go ahead and take a look at it!

Apart from that you might also want to check out further accessories that are available for the HTC Touch.
